Duden Waterfalls Antalya Guide

Compare Upper Duden and Lower Duden before you go: one is a green park-and-cave waterfall, while the other drops dramatically from Antalya's cliffs into the Mediterranean.

Start here

Duden is two different waterfall experiences.

Duden Waterfalls means both Upper Duden (Yukari Duden) in Kepez and Lower Duden (Asagi Duden / Karpuzkaldiran) near Lara. They are connected by the Duden River, but they do not look or feel the same.

Upper Duden is the greener choice, with water, trees, cave-like viewpoints and a park atmosphere. Lower Duden is the signature Antalya view: the river falls from a roughly 40-metre travertine cliff directly into the Mediterranean.

If you only have time for one quick stop, choose Lower Duden for the dramatic sea view. If you want shade, greenery and more time around the water, choose Upper Duden.

Upper vs Lower Duden

Choose the waterfall that fits your Antalya day.

Best iconic view

Lower Duden

The river reaches Antalya's coastal cliffs and falls about 40 metres into the Mediterranean. This is the postcard-style waterfall most visitors recognize.

Best green escape

Upper Duden

Official tourism information places it about 9 km north of central Antalya. The area has trees, cascades and a cave near the waterfall.

Best quick stop

Lower Duden

The land viewpoint is easy to combine with Lara, Kaleici or an Antalya city day without turning the stop into a long nature walk.

Best slower visit

Upper Duden

Spend longer here if you want a shaded park atmosphere, different angles around the water and time away from the exposed coast.

What to see

Four things make Duden worth adding to Antalya.

Sea-cliff waterfall

Lower Duden from land

Use the park-side cliff viewpoint to watch the water fall into the sea and create spray below the Antalya cliffs.

Different perspective

Lower Duden from a boat

GoTurkiye notes that sightseeing boats from Kaleici's old harbour commonly approach Lower Duden, giving you the waterfall from sea level.

Behind the water

Upper Duden cave area

The upper waterfall area includes a cave and viewpoints that make the experience feel very different from the open coastal drop.

River story

One river, two waterfalls

The water flows largely underground before surfacing near Upper Duden, then continues toward the coast and reaches the Mediterranean at Lower Duden.

Visitor information · updated September 2026

Do not use one ticket or timetable for both waterfalls.

Official Antalya tourism sources clearly describe the two Duden sites but do not publish one reliable combined live ticket price or opening schedule for both. Park access, facilities and tour inclusions can change.

For that reason, This guide does not list an unverified entrance fee or fixed opening hours here. Check current local signs and your tour details on the day, especially for Upper Duden.

Use safe viewpointsStay behind barriers around the cliffs and wet rock areas.
Heat mattersLower Duden is more exposed. Morning or later afternoon is usually more comfortable in hot weather.
Boat conditions varySea trips depend on weather, route and operator. A boat view of Lower Duden is never guaranteed by the waterfall itself.
Simple route

How to fit Duden into one Antalya day.

1 · Morning

Upper Duden

Start with the greener waterfall while the day is cooler. Give yourself around 45–60 minutes if you want to explore the park and cave viewpoints without rushing.

2 · Midday

Kaleici Old Town

Move into central Antalya for lunch and a historic walk around Hadrian's Gate, the old streets and harbour.

3 · Later

Lower Duden

Finish at the coastal waterfall for open sea views and softer late-day light. A boat approach can replace or supplement the land viewpoint.

Independent or guided?

Independent is easy; a tour helps if you want both waterfalls without transport planning.

Independent

Best if you control your own route

Visit Lower Duden on a city/Lara day, or combine Upper and Lower Duden by taxi, car or local transport. The two sites are separate, so allow transfer time.
