Quick answer

What is the best way from Fethiye to Antalya?

Take a direct intercity coach if you want the easiest low-cost trip. Fethiye Otogar and Antalya Otogar are both major terminals, and current ticket listings show many direct departures across several operators.

Current route information puts the road distance at about 190 km. Driving normally takes around 2 hours 40 minutes on the faster inland route in normal conditions. Direct coaches commonly take around 3 to 4 hours, depending on the operator, stops and traffic.

A private transfer is best when you have several bags, children, a late arrival or a hotel far from either terminal. A rental car is useful if Fethiye and Antalya are part of a longer Turquoise Coast road trip.

Fethiye and Oludeniz coast before travelling to Antalya
Fethiye is the western end of this transfer. Most intercity travellers start from Fethiye Otogar rather than from the Oludeniz resort area.
Before you leave

Where do you start the trip in Fethiye?

For direct intercity coaches, Fethiye Otogar is the key departure point.

Fethiye Otogar is close to the central town area and is used by several intercity operators. If you are staying near Fethiye centre, Paspatur or the marina, reaching the terminal is normally straightforward by local transport or taxi.

If your hotel is in Oludeniz, Hisaronu, Ovacik or Calis, add the local transfer time before the coach journey. Do not plan around the bus departure time alone. In summer, traffic between Oludeniz and Fethiye can be slow, especially around beach-changeover and evening periods.

Arrive early enough to find the correct company desk and departure bay. Turkey's larger bus terminals can have several operators leaving for the same city, and the company name on your ticket matters more than simply looking for a sign that says Antalya.

Current availability is strong. Ticket listings checked in September 2026 show dozens of Fethiye-Antalya departures across multiple companies. Exact times and fares change, so search your actual travel date rather than relying on an old screenshot.
Best no-car option

Fethiye to Antalya by direct bus

For most visitors, this is the best balance of price, simplicity and travel time.

Current booking platforms list direct coaches from Fethiye Otogar to Antalya Otogar throughout the day. Operators shown on this route include Bati Antalya Tur, Fethiye Seyahat, Kamil Koc, Pamukkale Turizm and other long-distance companies depending on the date.

At the time checked, the route had more than 40 listed departures on some days. That does not mean every departure has the same journey time. Some services make more stops, while others are faster through-services. A practical planning range is about 3 to 4 hours.

How long is the direct bus?

Current listings show an average around three hours, with many common services around 3 hours 15 minutes to 3 hours 30 minutes. Faster through-coaches can be shorter. Traffic entering Antalya can add time, particularly during busy summer periods.

Which bus company should you choose?

Choose by a combination of departure time, seat layout, journey duration and arrival time. The cheapest ticket is not always the best option if it leaves very early, arrives late or adds an extra hour of stops.

Bati Antalya Tur is especially relevant on this corridor because the company currently lists branches in both Fethiye and Antalya. Other national and regional operators also appear in live booking results, so compare the actual day rather than assuming one company always has the best schedule.

Should you book in advance?

Outside peak periods you may find seats close to departure, but advance booking is sensible for July, August, weekends and Turkish public-holiday periods. It also gives you a confirmed seat number and removes the need to compare every company after arriving at the terminal.

Do not confuse Antalya city with the wider Antalya Province. For a city stay, choose a ticket that arrives at Antalya Otogar. From there you continue by tram, bus or taxi to your hotel area.

After the coach

Getting from Antalya Otogar to your hotel

Your total travel time depends on where you stay in Antalya, not only on the intercity coach.

Antalya Otogar is northwest of the historic centre. The city has tram, bus and taxi connections, so reaching central Antalya is straightforward, but you still need to allow a final local leg.

Kaleici and city centre

For Kaleici, Hadrian's Gate and the central city area, public transport is usually economical. Antalya's Antray tram network serves the Otogar area and connects toward the city. A taxi is easier if your accommodation sits inside or beside the old town and you have heavy luggage.

Konyaalti

Konyaalti is west of the old town and can be convenient from the bus terminal compared with eastern resort areas. Local bus or taxi is usually the simplest final connection, depending on your exact hotel.

Lara

Lara is east of central Antalya, so the final transfer is longer. If your resort is far along the Lara/Kundu hotel strip, compare a taxi or pre-arranged transfer against multiple local transport changes, especially after a long coach ride.

If you are travelling onward to Antalya Airport the same day, check the current city transport connection separately and leave a generous buffer. Do not build a tight flight connection around the scheduled coach arrival.

Fastest flexible option

Driving from Fethiye to Antalya

The faster inland road is much shorter than following the Mediterranean shoreline.

The practical direct driving distance is about 190 km, and route planners commonly estimate around 2 hours 40 minutes in normal traffic. Real travel time depends on stops, mountain-road conditions and traffic entering Antalya.

A car makes sense if you already have a rental vehicle or if Antalya is one stop in a longer road trip. It also removes the need to travel from your hotel to Fethiye Otogar and then from Antalya Otogar to your final accommodation.

Should you rent a car only for this transfer?

Usually not. For two travellers staying centrally, the direct bus is simpler and avoids one-way rental charges, fuel, parking and collection/return time. A car becomes more valuable when you want to stop at smaller places or continue beyond Antalya.

What about parking in Antalya?

Parking can be awkward around the narrow streets of Kaleici. If your hotel is in the old town, ask where guests should leave rental cars before you drive into the historic centre. A hotel with private parking can make a big difference.

For road trips

Should you drive the scenic coast through Kalkan, Kas and Demre?

Yes for sightseeing; no if your only goal is to reach Antalya quickly.

The famous Mediterranean route east from Fethiye can include Patara, Kalkan, Kas, Kekova/Demre, Finike, Cirali and Kemer before Antalya. It is one of the most rewarding sections of a Turkey road trip, but it is not a quick transfer.

Do not try to treat all of those places as roadside photo stops in one day. The coast road is winding, the attractions need real time, and summer parking adds delays. If you want this version of the journey, give it at least two or three days, and longer if you want beach time or a Kekova boat trip.

A good split is Fethiye → Patara/Kalkan/Kas on the first day, then Kas → Demre/Cirali/Kemer → Antalya on the next day or two. That turns the journey into part of the holiday instead of a rushed transfer.

Simple rule: direct inland route for transport; coastal route for a road trip.
Practical details

Luggage, timing and same-day plans

A few small decisions make this transfer much easier.

What happens to large luggage on the coach?

Large suitcases normally go in the luggage compartment under the coach. Keep your passport, phone, money, medication, electronics and other valuables with you rather than in checked luggage.

Can you sightsee in Antalya on arrival day?

Yes if you take a morning or early-afternoon bus. After hotel check-in, a relaxed walk through Kaleici, the marina and Hadrian's Gate is realistic. Avoid booking a tightly timed prepaid tour immediately after a long-distance bus.

Can you travel Fethiye to Antalya and fly the same day?

It is possible, but only with a generous buffer. Intercity coaches can be delayed by traffic or operational changes, and Antalya Airport requires another transfer from the bus terminal. For an important international flight, an Antalya overnight stay is safer.

Is a private transfer worth it?

It can be, particularly for three or four travellers sharing the cost, families with children, late departures or hotels outside central Fethiye and Antalya. The value comes from door-to-door simplicity rather than from saving a huge amount of road time.

Route planning

How Fethiye to Antalya fits into a Turkey itinerary

This completes the main southwest route from the Aegean into the Mediterranean.

A logical sequence is Istanbul → Cappadocia → Canakkale/Troy → Selcuk/Ephesus → Pamukkale → Bodrum → Marmaris → Fethiye → Antalya. The last four legs can be completed without flying back through Istanbul.

For travellers using public transport, this Fethiye-to-Antalya leg is easier than it may look because direct intercity coaches connect the two terminals. That makes it practical to finish a west-to-east Turkey route in Antalya.

If you are in Izmir and do not plan to visit the southwest coast first, use our Izmir to Antalya guide for direct coach, nonstop flight and driving options.

If Antalya is your final base, allow several nights for Kaleici, Duden Waterfalls, Perge, Aspendos, beaches and regional day trips. If you are continuing farther east, Antalya is also a useful transport hub.

For a road trip, the coastal section between Fethiye and Antalya deserves extra time. It contains enough major stops to become a separate mini-itinerary rather than simply a transfer day.
