It is possible to find much local taste in Cappadocia. First, you should start the day with a delicious breakfast. In Turkey, people give so much importance to breakfast. When you would like to have breakfast in Cappadocia first you will see a variety of jams on the table.  Jams are often made from crops collected from the gardens of Cappadocia.  In Cappadocia, you may taste tulum cheese, cheddar cheese, and feta cheese. Menemen which is a different type of an omelet with tomato, green pepper and onion is generally served in the breakfast in Cappadocia. How about tasting the other foods? Let’s start with pastries. In Goreme and Cappadocia, there are different types of pastries like “borek”, “poğaça” and “gozleme” which are very traditional Turkish food. They are generally made with meat, cheese and potato. You should absolutely taste them.

What to eat in Cappadocia at lunch or dinner

When somebody says to you “Turkey”, one of the things that will come to your mind about Turkey,  should be “Kebap.” Kebap is a very traditional example of Turkish cuisine that you must try. I Göreme and Cappadocia you may find different places to eat “Kebap”. Pottery kebab “Testi Kebabı” is a traditional kebap made in Goreme. You should also try “Doner Kebap” in Cappadocia. You may drink “Ayran” which is obtained by adding water into the yoghourt and one of the most common drinks of Turkish Cuisine while you are eating kebap.

If you are vegetarian, of course, there are so many delicious foods for you in Goreme and Cappadocia! For example “Dolma” 

which is made with tomatoes, green peppers, vine leaves, or eggplants stuffed with a mixture of meat, rice, and spices is a wonderful dish for you. Also, you may find delicious foods made by using eggplant like “İmambayıldı”. Also, you should try fried vegetables like green pepper and zucchini. You may eat these fried vegetables with tomato sauce.

In Goreme and Cappadocia, there are soo many traditional and delicious desserts that you may want to taste after a meal. For example “Baklava” and “Künefe” are classic desserts in Turkey. If you taste these desserts, we assure you that you will love them!
